This drawing was inspired by a visit to Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire. These cute creatures were a highlight for me, there is an enclosure you can walk through where they are running and climbing free, such an enjoyable experience.

Animals have always been an important part of my life and I relish the challenge of trying to capture their unique personalities and characteristics on canvas. I enjoy exploring various mediums however the seemingly simple pencil is one of my favourites, even though each piece takes many hours of work. I like the way I can control the image layering to add fine detail and depth whilst adding tone and texture. Pastels were my first love and now again I will get the urge for some colour. A new area I am exploring is tinted charcoal pencils and coloured pencils with ink, am loving the detail and depth of colours these combinations can create.
